Chicago Zotero style, shortened for grant proposals

2023-02-15

This is a Zotero style based on the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (author-date). My adaptation shortens author first names to only initials and replaces the full edited by string with ed.. Links and DOIs are suppressed. This is ideal for space-contrained documents such as grant proposals:

To use the stylesheet, simply click "Download". Then, open the file, and Zotero will prompt you to install it.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to disable so-called line breaks or carriage returns in Zotero styles for Microsoft Word. To remove line breaks and replace them with bullets, use the "Replace All" function in Word with the following parameters:

  • Find what: ^p
  • Replace with:

Then hit "Replace All". The result will look more or less like this:

Baayen, H., F. Tomaschek, S. Gahl, and M. Ramscar. 2017. ‘The Ecclesiastes Principle in Language Change’. In The Changing English Language, ed. M. Hundt, S. Mollin, and S.E. Pfenninger, 21–48. Studies in English Language. Cambridge: CUP. • Chomsky, N. 2006. Language and Mind. 3rd ed. Language and Mind. New York: Cambridge University Press. • Pijpops, D., and F. Van de Velde. 2016. ‘Constructional Contamination: How Does It Work and How Do We Measure It?’ Folia Linguistica 50 (2): 543–81.

May the odds be ever in your favour.
